If you are truly a child of God, then your appetite for the Word of God should be healthy. "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, " 1 Peter 2:2 . Feed upon the Word everyday without fail. The more you eat, the faster you will grow. Be like Job, "I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread." Job 23:12 . If you commit yourself to spending some quiet time everyday you will grow in your relationship with the Lord and gain in wisdom and understanding. Just like the food we eat to sustain our physical bodies, there may be times of pure enjoyment and excitement for the Word of God, and other times like eating vegetables mom prepared for dinner when we were kids. It may be boring and dry at times, however the discipline of eating while you do not necessarily crave it , benefits us greatly over time. And it is those "vegetable" days that God often uses to fill us with His wisdom for a later time. |
