Ice Cores and the Age of the Earth
In the Holy Scriptures it states, "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." (Exodus 20:11)    There are mounds of evidence and scientific proof that affirm the Earth to be very young! The Holy Bible states the creation of all things to be just over 6000 years ago thru the genealogical record. And, the ice cores are just another testimony to the veracity of the Word of God!     In 1967, Nobel Peace Prize winner in Science, Dr. George Waid stated, "When it comes to the origin of life on this earth, there are only two possibilities: creation or spontaneous generation (evolution). There is no third way. Spontaneous generation was disproved 100 years ago, but that leads us only to one other conclusion: that of supernatural creation. We cannot accept that on philosophical grounds (personal reasons); therefore, we choose to believe the impossible: that life arose spontaneously by chance." [End of Quote]    The evolutionary theory is just that, only a theory built upon philosophical grounds and NOT science. When you hear the statement "Creation vs. Science", it is a play on words to muddy the waters so that the individual or persons hearing that statement think that creation is against science, that science does not support the biblical world view. However, that statement is, in fact, a LIE!
Science and creation are on the same side of the fence. The Evolutionary model is the opponent against science AND creation. It is really a battle of faith. Do you choose to believe in God whom science and nature continually confirm the existence of, or the evolutionary paradigm built on assumptions and the need to validate their lack of faith?     A fundamental false assumption made by evolutionists is that of uniformitarianism, which is the belief that all geologic processes happen at a constant rate over vasts amounts of time. This assumption is central to the evolutionary model. To buoy that assumption, they need to incorporate and promote dating techniques that support it regardless of whether they are scientifically sound or not.     A global world catastrophe or the biblical flood is supported by historic accounts in cultures all over the world. Not to mention, flood strata all over the earth with sea fossils on nearly all the mountains in the world including countless clam fossils on the top of Mt. Everest! Many of these clam fossils are found in the closed position. The only way for these clams to be fossilized in the closed position is by being buried quickly in mud and soil. Past underwater creatures all over the world including mountain tops becoming part of a fossil graveyard in sedimentary rock, or water-action rock, is only attributed to a WORLDWIDE FLOOD! There is no other way to explain this. It has to be a global catastrophe which flies in the face of those that believe in evolution and the uniformitarian model.      Continuing on the dating techniques used to buoy the evolutionary theory, let's look at the ice core dating method used by evolutionists. The dating technique used to support evolutionists' view for ice core samples is based on the same model as tree dating. That's right, folks! Snow and ice layers are supposed to be laid down a layer at a time in a summer-winter fashion. Winter packs whiter layers and summer packs darker layers because of the melting of the snow and ice. So, just like the counting of growth rings to date the age of a tree, you can count the age of the ice core sample by counting the summer-winter, summer-winter layers in the sample.      If you thought it sounds too simple to be true. You would be correct! Their emergency landings off the coast of Greenland were due to lack of fuel and no other place to land.    After their abandonment, it took some 46 years to find the planes again! Using a sophisticated form of radar, they finally located the planes beneath the ice in 1988. What they discovered was NOT expected. They expected the planes to be found with a light cover of snow and ice. After all, the impression sold to the public is that the buildup of glacial ice takes very long time periods -- thousands of years for just a few feet. This common preconception is the basis for, once again, the evolutionary paradigm and the 'millions of years' idea. The same brain-washing that makes people instinctively believe in millions of years for coral reef growth, stalactite formation, and so on, is at work here when studying the ice core samples.    With a technique called cold-mining, the discoverers were able to recover the planes. However to there astonishment, the planes were covered by over 250 FEET of ice! That would be 250 feet of ice in ONLY 46 years . . . approximately 5 1/2 feet per year!    Since the largest ice core sample ever taken was approximately 10,000 feet, at 5 1/2 feet per year, then the time frame that would deposit that much ice would ONLY take about 1800 years! Even with the compression of lower ice levels, called firn, the Biblical account of 4000 years is plenty of time to deposit the ice. The largest glaciers in the world would have taken only a few thousand years, not hundreds of thousands of years like the old-earth proponents attest to.    Another interesting discovery was made by the recovery team over the many years of expeditionary work. After drilling down to the planes some 250 feet thru the ice, Bob Vardin and the recovery team noticed MANY HUNDREDS of ice rings present. That would be hundreds of ice rings or layers in just 46 years of ice! This discovery discredited the theory that the ice rings were semi-annual rings similar to tree rings. Upon further study, they found that the physical evidence represented weather changes and NOT seasonal changes after all! The ice rings are, in fact, warm-cold spells. There would be upwards of 4-5 ring deposits in ONE WEEK!    So much for the uniformitarian view of ice core deposits! Once again, the evidence confirms the Biblical account of a young Earth. If hard evidence supports one belief and refutes another, then the belief that is discredited should be forfeited.    Do not be fooled by those that push the religion of evolution! Science and nature confirm the Word of God. So put your trust in God!
