There is a mountain of evidence that supports a 6000 year old Earth! Over 100 scientific measurements alone prove the Earth to be young just like the Word of God states. One of which is the Earth’s magnetic field.
Like all magnets the earth is losing its electromagnetism. Scientists have known for some time that the Earth's magnetic field is fading. Its strength has steadily and mysteriously slowed, leaving parts of the planet vulnerable to increased radiation from space.
Over the last 150 years, since monitoring began, scientists have measured a 10% decrease in the Earth's magnetic field. The field would therefore lose half its energy or strength in less than 1500 years! Such a fast rate is astonishing considering the size of the magnetic field. Nevertheless, the rapid decline remained relatively unknown to the public, known only to researchers and students of geomagnetism until recently.
This empirical data is evidence that the magnetic field COULD NOT be more than a 25,000 years old! Following the timeline backwards into the past, the Earth’s magnetic field would have been unreasonably strong just a few thousand years ago.
It also provides proof that carbon dating CANNOT work for more than a 3000 years or so. One of the assumptions made for the carbon dating method to work is that the Carbon-14 in the atmosphere must have reached a state of equilibrium. They state that it would take only 30,000 years for equilibrium to be reached. So, since the evolutionists believe in the old earth (billions of years model), they, therefore, bypassed this assumption.
Of course, they are now finding out that the Carbon-14 still has not reached an equilibrium point. If the Carbon-14 in the atmosphere is still changing, then the age of the Earth MUST be less than 30,000 years old. The reason that carbon dating methods do not work is that as the magnetic field declines, more radiation gets thru the atmosphere producing more Carbon-14 causing a “rubber ruler” effect.
The supporters of an old earth have tried to put a band aid on this evidence by coming up with the theory of pole reversals where by the magnetic field will reverse itself after millions of years. However, science again does not support this theory.
This data is quite consistent with the biblical view of the age of the Earth, about 6000 years of age. Taking the evidence were it leads us, there is a great case for the young magnetic field, and consequently for a young earth. The new data supports the creationist model: the magnetic field has rapidly and continuously lost energy ever since God created it about 6,000 years ago. |
